Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Astralab Studios, Inc. collects, uses, stores, and discloses information when you use our websites, mobile applications, APIs, and related services.
1. Information we collect
- Account and contact details you provide to us.
- Usage data, diagnostics, device information, and application logs.
- Content and metadata needed to provide the requested product features.
- For Roveli, photos selected or authorized by you for sorting, photo metadata needed to organize those photos, optional creator reference photos you choose to provide for face matching, and face descriptors derived from those photos to match photos of you for creator albums, and, for photos Roveli has sorted with AI processing, a numeric image vector that the app computes on your device from each photo.
- Financial data only when you explicitly connect a financial account through an integration such as Plaid.
2. How we use information
- Operate, maintain, and improve our products and infrastructure.
- Provide customer support and respond to legal or security inquiries.
- Detect abuse, fraud, security incidents, and service misuse.
- Comply with applicable law and enforce our agreements.
3. Roveli photos, face data, and AI processing
Roveli processes photos that you select or authorize so it can classify and organize your photo library. If you enable creator face matching, Roveli may use a creator reference photo you provide and face descriptors derived from that photo and candidate photos. Roveli uses this face data only to determine whether photos contain the creator so those photos can be placed into creator albums such as photos of you or you with products.
Roveli does not sell face data, does not use face data for advertising, and does not use face data to identify people outside the creator matching feature you enable. Creator reference data is stored on your device, and server-side face descriptors are used transiently to process the requested sorting job. Server-side creator reference descriptors may be cached in memory for up to 15 minutes to complete active processing, then expire. Photo analysis images are sent to Astralab Studios' hosting provider Render and to Google Gemini through Google AI APIs only to provide the sorting features you request. Roveli asks for in-app permission before sending selected photo thumbnails and metadata for this AI processing.
When you have agreed to AI processing, Roveli also sends Astralab Studios a numeric image vector for each photo it has sorted. The app computes this vector on your device. It is a list of 768 numbers that describes the visual content of the photo; it is not the photo itself. With each vector we receive only the names of the built-in Roveli albums the photo was placed in, version numbers, and a code derived from the photo's on-device identifier with a secret key that stays on your device. We do not receive the photo's file name, identifier, date, or location with the vector. We use these vectors only to train and test the models that let Roveli sort photos on your device. We do not sell these vectors, use them for advertising, or use them to identify people.
4. Financial data and Plaid
When a product uses Plaid, Astralab Studios receives account and transaction data that you authorize through Plaid Link. We use that data solely to provide the financial features you requested. We do not sell your financial data.
Plaid’s own handling of data is governed by Plaid’s policies and disclosures.
5. Sharing
We may share data with service providers that help us operate our products, including hosting, analytics, error monitoring, email, payment, and financial-integration providers. We may also disclose data when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Astralab Studios, or the public.
For Roveli, we receive campaign attribution data from Apple and from our attribution provider (AppsFlyer): the campaign, ad group, keyword and ad that led to an install. This data contains no advertising identifier. We also receive purchase and subscription status from our payment provider (RevenueCat).
6. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security records. If you disconnect a financial integration, we may retain limited records required for fraud prevention, compliance, backups, and audit purposes. Roveli image vectors and their album names are deleted automatically 180 days after we first receive them.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. No system can guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices
- You may contact us to request support, access, correction, or deletion where applicable.
- You may disconnect linked financial accounts through the product interface when supported.
- You may stop using the services at any time.
- Roveli sends image vectors only while you have agreed to AI processing under the current disclosure. When Roveli's cloud data for your installation is reset, the image vectors stored for that installation are deleted with it. You can also ask us to delete them at support@astralabstudios.com.
9. Children
Our products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International transfers
Information may be processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate.
11. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date on this page.
